The short answer
A walk-in shower conversion on the Eastside usually costs $15,000 to $35,000 and takes 3 to 5 weeks of construction. We remove the tub, rebuild the shower floor with a sloped pan or linear drain, waterproof every wall with a membrane, then tile, add a niche and install frameless glass. It usually needs a plumbing permit, which we file for you.

Walk-in shower conversion
Tub and surround removal, a new sloped shower pan or linear drain, a waterproofing membrane on every wall, tile floor and walls, a recessed niche, a new valve and showerhead, frameless glass, and solid blocking in the walls for grab bars now or later.
A curbless (zero-threshold) shower takes a little more work, since the floor is recessed so water flows to the drain without a step. It's the best choice for aging in place and looks clean in any bathroom.
A low curb is simpler and costs less. Curbless needs the subfloor lowered or built up around the shower, which we check at the first visit. If you're redoing the whole room, see wet rooms or primary bathroom remodels.

Bathroom remodeling FAQ
Straight answers from our project leads. Don't see your question? Call (425) 276-6501.
How much does it cost to convert a tub to a walk-in shower?
Most of our Eastside tub-to-shower conversions cost $15,000 to $35,000. Tile size and material, curbless construction and the glass enclosure drive most of the range.
How long does a walk-in shower conversion take?
Construction usually takes 3–5 weeks, including time for the waterproofing to cure and for the frameless glass to be measured and made.
Do I need a permit to replace a tub with a shower?
Usually a plumbing permit, because the drain and valve change. We file it and schedule the inspections.
Can I live at home while you remodel my only bathroom?
Yes, with planning. We sequence the work to keep the toilet usable as long as possible and can arrange a temporary toilet if needed. Most clients with a second bathroom notice little disruption.
Will removing my tub hurt resale value?
Not if another bathroom in the house has a tub. Most buyers prefer a large walk-in shower in the primary bath.
Can you make the shower curbless for accessibility?
Usually, yes. We recess the shower floor so there's no step, add a linear drain, and put blocking in the walls for grab bars. We confirm the floor framing allows it at the consult.
What's included in your walk-in shower price?
Demolition, plumbing, shower pan or linear drain, waterproofing, tile, niche, valve and trim, frameless glass, grab-bar blocking, permit and cleanup.
