The short answer

A kitchen refresh on the Eastside usually costs $45,000 to $75,000 and takes 8 to 12 weeks of construction. It keeps your walls, plumbing and appliance locations where they are and replaces what you see and touch: cabinets or cabinet fronts, counters, backsplash, sink, lighting and often flooring. Because nothing structural moves, permits are simpler and your kitchen is out of service for less time.

Kitchen refresh

What a kitchen refresh includes

Most refreshes replace the cabinets (or just the doors and drawer fronts on solid boxes), countertops, backsplash, sink and faucet, under-cabinet and ceiling lighting, and paint. Many clients add new flooring and appliances at the same time. The footprint, plumbing lines and walls stay where they are.

That's what keeps the price and timeline down: no structural engineering, no relocated drain lines, and usually only electrical and plumbing permits instead of a full building permit.

When a refresh is the right call

A refresh makes sense when your layout already works and the problem is dated finishes, worn cabinets or poor lighting. If you want an island where a wall is now, or the sink on another wall, look at an open-concept or layout change instead.

I recently had Renovision Design and Build remodel my basement bathroom, and I couldn't be happier with the results! They installed a huge walk-in shower and a heated floor, which has made the space feel so much more luxurious. The team was on-site every day, working hard and keeping the project on schedule. They also made sure to keep everything within our budget, which was really important to us. The quality of the work is top-notch, and we’re thrilled with how the bathroom turned out. Highly recommend them to anyone in the Kenmore area looking for reliable, professional contractors!

We had one of our bathrooms remodeled and it turned out great, better than we expected. Started off as a shower remodel, but ended up a total bathroom remodel. One we can be very proud of. Working with John and his team was great. Professionalism and patience were the key values they upheld with this project, from beginning to end. I would recommend any home remodel with John and team. Looking forward to the next project.

This was our first remodeling project, involving flooring and kitchen renovation. Initially, we were unsure about proceeding due to budget constraints. However, we decided to get quotes, and CJ convinced us they were the right team for the job. Joan then stepped in with his thoughtful planning and design expertise. He was always ready to listen to our ideas, even when we deviated little on lighting from the original plan. Impressively, he accommodated all our requests without any complaints. The quality of Joan's work, the professionalism of his crew, and their punctuality in delivering everything on the promised date made a lasting impression. Thanks to Joan, my home looks amazing, and I am truly grateful for his efforts.

You won't be disappointed hiring John and team for your home construction project.

John and  his team at Renovision took our project when we were in a very difficult situation. We got our work done from some random contractor before who messed up our shower floor where water was puddling everywhere. He left us in dire situation. John and his team took the project to help us and diligently demolished our shower floor without messing with our existing shower tiles to save our time and money and did installation of drain, slope and new floor tiles very efficiently, they are cost effective, reliable, professional. They also fixed our existing shower tiles edges with proper water proofing high quality caulking and handled our existing valve and water pressure inspection. I would highly recommend them for any bathroom remodeling projects and would use their services

Kitchen remodeling FAQ

Common questions about kitchen remodeling

Straight answers from our project leads. Don't see your question? Call (425) 276-6501.

How much does a kitchen refresh cost?

Most of our Eastside kitchen refreshes cost $45,000 to $75,000. Where you land depends on whether you replace or reface the cabinets, the counter material, and whether new appliances are part of the job.

How long does a kitchen refresh take?

Construction takes 8–12 weeks. Add 2–6 weeks before that for design, ordering and permits. Cabinet lead time usually sets the start date.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen refresh?

Usually only electrical and plumbing permits, for new circuits, lighting and the sink hookup. Purely cosmetic work like paint or cabinet fronts typically doesn't need one. We file whatever your city requires.

Can I keep my cabinet boxes and just replace the doors?

Yes, if the boxes are solid wood or plywood and in good shape. We check them at the consult. Particleboard boxes with water damage under the sink should be replaced.

What's the difference between a refresh and a full kitchen remodel?

A refresh keeps the layout, plumbing and walls. A full gut remodel takes the room to the studs with new electrical and plumbing, typically $75,000–$120,000 and 12–18 weeks.

Does a kitchen refresh add value to my home?

A minor kitchen remodel typically recoups about 75–85% of its cost at resale, one of the best returns of any remodel.

Can I live at home during a kitchen refresh?

Yes. A refresh keeps your kitchen out of service for less time than a full remodel. We seal the work area with dust barriers and can set up a temporary kitchen with your fridge, a microwave and a sink.
